Pharmacology
Diethanol: Diethanol can block the supply of ATP to epidermal cells in the skin, resulting in a loss of energy supply to keratinocytes. This process can at least partially explain the therapeutic efficacy of diethanol on psoriasis. It has the ability to destroy fungi.
Salicylic acid: It is a keratolytic agent. Salicylic acid speeds up desquamation, thereby eliminating the invading fungus and helping the drug to penetrate the skin. In the process of keratolysis, the hard part of the epidermis (horny layer) of the skin falls off. Salicylic acid dissolves intercellular cement and completes the desquamation process. The connective tissue attaches the scales to the scales of the skin’s Stratum Corneum. Salicylic acid mainly demonstrates its efficacy by increasing scabs or scales.
